WHO WE ARE…
We are two Whistler, BC locals with a passion for exploring the outdoors - hiking, skiing, touring…we love it all. When we discovered stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), it quickly became one of our favorite ways to interact with nature from the water.
And we weren’t alone.
Over the past few years, the interest in SUP has exploded as more and more people discover the convenience and enjoyment this unique form of fitness provides. Despite the high demand for SUP boards, we struggled to find a brand that offered boards with unique, compelling designs that also boasted the high technical quality we seek in sustainable outdoor equipment.
Entrepreneurs and explorers at heart, we love a challenge. And so came the birth of BlackTusk Paddleboards. We’ve been working hard to track down the best suppliers, manufacturers, and local artists to bring our vision to reality. After a few years, we can now proudly say we have a product that is truly special - beautifully designed boards, unique and practical, with no compromise of technicality.

WHY BLACKTUKS…
BLACKTUKS - THE LEGENDARY SYMBOL OF STRENGTH AND POWER
Our company is named after one of the most iconic natural landmarks in southwest British Columbia - Black Tusk. Its striking appearance and unique features make it the most recognizable mountain peak in Whistler, our beloved hometown. But that's not all there is to it. The name "Black Tusk" also holds a special place in the hearts of the Squamish Nation. In their language, it's known as "t'ak't'ak mu'yin tl'a in7in'a'xe7en," which translates to "Landing Place of the Thunderbird." The Thunderbird is a legendary supernatural being of immense power and strength, and the mountain's jagged shape and black color are said to come from its lightning. Thus, our company name symbolizes strength, power, and a deep connection to the natural world, just like the mighty Thunderbird.

To bring diversity and artistic expression into the SUP market. People deserve access to limited edition floating pieces of art that reflect their own unique style without having to sacrifice on the quality of the equipment.
On the water or off, we want our boards to bring happiness to anyone who sees them. This creates more opportunities and mediums for artists to celebrate their craft, bringing more art into the world, and inspiring others to do the same!

When someone purchases our product, we take that seriously.
We want you outside enjoying your SUP, not stressing over the details. Although we’re a small team, we send every SUP out to ship within 48 hours of it being ordered and provide ongoing support should you need it.
